While in London I chose to photograph the many parks that in my opinion really keep this city alive and well..sane. I went to many of these parks on the weekend as a break from the hectic city. I came to find that parks (and pubs of course) are where Brits really enjoy themselves. I went to many of them multiple times and even in cold weather, there would be just as many people. It is nice to know that even in a modern, industrial mecca, people are still drawn to nature.

Kennsington Gardens

I came across this photo in Hyde Park as I was sitting eating lunch and resting on some steps. Suddenly the sun came out and made these beautiful reflections on the bridge, but only for a minute or so. I sat at this place for about an hour and a half waiting for some clouds to move to get that light again. I had to put a piece of paper behind the neg. when photographing it so the detail is kinda lost online. Will be a good one to print!

Building in Cork, Ireland... with a bit off accidental double exposure. I'm learning from my mistakes. I decided to lug my camera around during this trip and was loading my film in hostel bathrooms. I didn't think to bring another light tight box for the exposed pics. so I made a barrier to separate them from the exposed.... a few got mixed in. Turn out alright this time but I'll be sure to bring lots of empty film boxes on my next trip.

Enormous swans in Gallway. Their necks were as big as my arm. I fed one and it basically ate straight from my hand...absolutely terrifying.

Looking down on the Queens Gardens at Regents Park. The most magical park I've been to yet....I felt like I was in Neverland.

I got a bit sick of landscapes and decide to really just focus on sunlight and shadows. It took a lot of patience as I continuously had to wait for clouds and people to be in the right position, but I really like the results...I'll see where it goes.

Kew Fountain

Two very sweet girls I met at Kew Gardens. They were running around the park with flowers and twigs in their hair. They were so nice. They were art students as well and invited me to this interactive art event they were organizing on the Millennium Bridge. All the girls had to dress up in as much red clothing as possible and all the boys in green. Each group waited at opposite sides and at once we all ran to the middle grabbing as much as possible from the other team and racing back to the other side. Girls totally won. Really fun and something I won't forget.

Kew Gardens

Early spring flowers and Kew Gardens...way back in February.
A very nice couple who asked me for a lighter. I didn't have one but I told them I could give them a picture if they let me take one of them. There was a light leak on the side so the flare looks sorta funny.

Hyde Park... I was trying to photograph a large heron and them realized I like the view better than him. You can hardly see him but he's on the left, in the water, next to the tree.

This is Bloomsbury Square right outside my house about ten minutes after the Olympic torch went by. View cameras don't set up real fast. Didn't realize it was even coming until I heard thousands of people cheering and protesting outside my door.

View from top of Blarney Castle in Ireland. Probaly the scariest thing I've ever done with this camera. It was so high ( I am extremely afraid of heights, I even blacked-out a little on a ropes course one time) and winding.... my roomate Laura, who was traveling with me, definitely help in a huge way. After I finish I was shaking a bit, but felt really accomplished.

People who'd actually let me take their picture at Camden Market + an old woman who thought I was going to steal her purse

I went to Camden Market attempting sneak shots without people noticing me. No luck. Not only am I incredibly obvious, I got nearly a whole person in the frame maybe twice. So, I figured just suck it up and ask. Not much more success. I got a lot of suspicious scowls and even a few people asking me to actually pay them. I am definitely missing the charm of 8x10, I definitely cannot rely on simply my own. Anyhow, I kept at it and met a few interesting characters. This sweet old man made the day worth it. He was so gracious and wanted to know all about me. I was so excited, I forgot to ask him his name.

Apparently I'm terrifying. I was wearing a hoodie.

Beautiful Light In Cambridge

I am having some trouble going back to a little camera. I'm fixing all the parts that broke on the way here and attempting to make my own bathroom darkroom. In the meantime, I have been really trying to look at the effects of light. Something I admire in both Sally Mann and Keith Carter is their ability to isolate their subject with light and focus.
I am also having trouble not taking touristy pictures, just because, well, I'm a tourist. Hopefully I'll weed out the "look where was" photos. Being in a new place can be really inspiring or really cliche. We'll see.

My roomate wanted to take our cat for a walk in the park. She met Sergio and I took this picture. It is hard to see her because I had some major light leak issues but she's in the lower right corner. He liked her a lot.
